Thank you for visiting Electric Warrior Yoga!  It has been a long time dream of mine to make a contribution to the health and wellness community. My hope for Electric Warrior Yoga is to become so much more than just a website, but a way to create a community which connects yogis who are looking to start their journey or deepen their practice. This soon will become a forum for information on holistic wellness, tips on safely practicing yoga, yummy recipes and discussion about the yoga community at large. I first stumbled on yoga in 2008 as a way to recover after a torn meniscus sent my regular running routine on it's heels. I wish I had a video of that first class; tentatively seeking out a place in the back of the room, looking around to the other yogis who seemed impossibly graceful and flexible and wondering why I was the only one sweating and struggling. I decided to come back to the class because, well to be honest the instructor was handsome (hey whatever gets you back to the mat right?) But I found the more I practiced, the better I felt and the better my workouts were outside of yoga. As it sometimes happens, life got in the way and my yoga practice fell to the wayside when I decided to pursue grad school and move 3000 miles away from home on my own. 

It wasn't until more recently where I devoted myself to a regular practice and felt the shift not just in my body but my mind as well. I've been a social worker for about 7 years, and in the past year or so, began a job in Child Welfare. The daunting pressure and immense sadness surrounding this job began to take a toll on my general well being. I found myself sinking back into depression and my anxiety was at an all time high. Deciding that I no longer wanted to spend my days with a tightness in my chest, I decided to hop back into yoga. That first class back was intense. I felt like a stranger in my own body, and by the time I got to savasana I thought, I'm not coming back. And then it happened, the teacher dropped a bliss bomb  on me which related to my current state of anxious flux and I was in tears. It was such a powerful release, and I came away from my mat feeling lighter and better. Since that first class back, I have dedicated myself to a regular practice and my life has changed immensely. I noticed that the feeling of lightness translates off the mat and into my personal life. I thought to myself, how can I continue this journey? How can I share this with others? And here we are today, teacher training complete and ready to take on the world at large, I started this website in the hope that I can make a wrinkle of an impact on anyone who has had the same struggles in their own lives. Yoga has opened up doors in my life I didn't even know existed, and if you want to learn more, please continue to visit this website and reach out for a personal or a small group session.
